"VNIISV" history

In 1958 under the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR №34-24с from January 9th, 1956 there was organized the directorate management of All-Union Research Institute for Synthetic Fibre (VNIISV - ВНИИСВ) which was under construction. It subordinated to the Chemistry State committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
Under the order №464 from September 8th, 1960 of the Chemistry State committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR in connection with putting into operation of the 1-st turn of buildings and constructions of the All-Union Research Institute for Synthetic Fibre (VNIISV) and in execution of the Decision of the Council of Ministers of the USSR from January 9th, 1958 №795, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance of the USSR there had been liquidated the branch of the All-Union Research Institute of Man-made Fibre (VNIIV) at Chemical combine (Kalinin, now Tver). The research works, thematic plan, equipment, stock, limits and wage funds of the liquidated branch were transferred to VNIISV.
In February-March, 1961 Klin laboratory of polyamide fibre based at Chemical combine (Kalinin, now Tver) was affiliated to VNIISV structure.
The pilot plant for “VNIISV” was established in the first quarter of 1962 for wide expansion of research and experimental works on development the production technology of new synthetic fibres on pilot installations. It was based at Kalinin pilot workshop for PAN fibre ("nitron"), pilot lines for heterochain and carbon-chain fibres, mechanical workshops, energy supply and mechanical services and other subsidiary shops and facilities of “VNIISV”.
In 1970 the new organization structure of “VNIISV” was adopted: management personnel of VNIISV and its pilot plant was centralized, i.e. “VNIISV” and its pilot plant became incorporated and were named as “VNIISV” with a pilot plant.
In the end of 1970 “VNIISV” regulations were confirmed, according to which “VNIISV” started carrying out scientific researches in the field of synthetic fibres manufacture, synthesis of new fibre-forming polymers, development of new methods of spinning, creation and development of technological processes and equipment for  synthetic fibres production.
In January, 1971 the Charter of the pilot plant of “VNIISV” was confirmed according to which the primary goal of the pilot plant consisted in construction of pilot installations and carrying out of research works on them according to the long-term plan of subjects.
On April 20th, 1994 at the conference of labour collective of “VNIISV” with a pilot plant it was decided to transform the legal form of “VNIISV” into state enterprise.
On March 28th, 1995 the official name of the enterprise was accepted as the federal state unitary enterprise “The Research Institute for Synthetic Fibre with a pilot plant”.
On January 22th, 2013 the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "VNIISV" (FSUE "VNIISV") was transformed into the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC “VNIISV”) as a result of privatization.
The Research Institute for Synthetic Fibre with a Pilot Plant ("VNIISV") is a constant participant of domestic and foreign exhibitions and fairs.
Scientific works of "VNIISV" have been repeatedly awarded with diplomas and medals.
For the years of “VNIISV” existence 3 persons have been awarded with the prizes of the Russian Federation government in the field of science and engineering.
“VNIISV” has been awarded with:

  • Medals of “Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy/ВДНХ”: gold 16, silver 79, bronze 189
  •  Diplomas for participation in exhibitions: 22
  •  The diploma and a medal at the lV Brussels Inventions Exhibition
  • The «Golden Мercury», an international prize for achievements in science and engineering
  •  Copyright certificates and patents: 1367 (since 1992 - 27 patents)
  •  9 Russian Federation patents for the invention are being kept in force

International symposiums on chemical fibres there also have been held in “VNIISV”.

For the whole period of work there have been developed technologies and put into operation more than 30 industrial enterprises in 21 cities of the former Soviet Union with total capacity over 1 million tons:

  • 4 plants for production of PAN small tow and PAN yarn (Saratov, Kustanay, Fergana, Novopolotsk)
  •  There have been developed the source data  on construction of plants for PAN small tow, PAN yarn and carbon fillers  on their basis (Lisakovsk; Rudny, Kustanay region
  •  Manufacture of polyaramide fibre "phenylon" and polyvinylchloride fibre (Kustanay)
  •  15 plants for production of fibres and yarns based on different polyamides (Klin, Shchekino, Volzhskiy, Kemerovo, Daugavpils, Chernigov, Grodno, Kiev, etc.)
  •  3 plants for production of polyester fibres and yarns (Kursk, Mogilev, Tver)
  •  8 plants for production of polypropylene monofilaments, tape yarns, packing cloth, nonwovens (Kamensk, Mogilev, Balakovo, Barnaul, Zhitomir, etc.)
  • There have been developed the source data for construction of 3 plants for production of polyamide fibres and yarns (Krasnoyarsk, Kemerovo, Chernigov)
